Ed Sheeran surprises singers at new Ipswich choir school

Pop superstar Ed Sheeran surprised choristers rehearsing Christmas carols when he officially opened their new music school.

Just under 40 young people are part of the St Mary-le-Tower choir in Ipswich. There were gasps when the door of their practice room opened and Ed walked in, asking: “Can I listen?”

St Mary-le-Tower has opened its Song School in a building opposite the church on Tower Street. It is also used as a wellbeing and community hub with Citizens Advice.

The vicar of Ipswich Minster, the Reverend Tom Mumford, said: “He was amazing with our young choristers, listening to them, asking them questions.”
