DWP confirms new PIP, DLA and Attendance Allowance rates from April 2024 | Personal Finance | Finance

The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed the new rates for disability benefits from April 2024. The uplift, announced in last November’s autumn statement, is in line with the September consumer price index (CPI) inflation figure.

This means that many vulnerable households on benefits such as Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA), and Attendance Allowance will have more money from April.

The department has now revealed the new rates for the above benefits will go up by 6.7 percent. These are claimed by millions of people across the UK, reports WalesOnline.

PIP is awarded to individuals living with a long-term illness, mental health condition, or physical or learning disability.

It involves two parts, including if you need help with everyday tasks and/or if you need help with getting around.

Attendance Allowance helps cover extra costs for those with a severe enough disability that they need someone to assist them. The amount received depends on the level of care needed due to the disability.

The Department for Work and Pensions provides DLA to individuals with certain disabilities, including those with mobility issues or who require specific care.

Although DLA has largely been replaced by other benefits, it was still received by around one million people last year and will continue this year for many people.

The Department for Work and Pensions has now confirmed the April 2024 rates for these disability benefits. They are as follows:

Daily living component

Mobility component

Attendance allowance

Disability living allowance

  • Lowest: rising from £26.90 to £28.70

  • Middle: rising from £68.10 to £72.66

  • Highest: rising from £101.75 to £108.57
