Dundee United: Nikolaj Moller sold to Sandefjord after six months

Dundee United have sold striker Nikolaj Moller to Norwegian club Sandefjord less than six months after his arrival for free from Swiss outfit St Gallen.

United manager Jim Goodwin described the 23-year-old Swede as having a “terrific physical profile” and being “perfectly suited to the combative nature” of Scottish football when he signed in August.

But United have now announced his departure for an undisclosed fee following just 20 appearances for the Scottish Premiership club, only seven of them starts, and one goal.

Moller’s one goal came in a Scottish Cup fourth-round victory over Ayr United last month and he started the following two league games – defeats by Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian.

The former Arsenal, Bologna and Malmo youth player had headed to Tannadice after spending last season on loan, scoring five goals in 24 games, to a Stromsgodset side who went on to finish second bottom and suffer relegation from the Norwegian top flight.
