Dumfries town centre street closed after cannabis find

Cannabis plants worth £520,000 have been seized by police in a raid at a derelict property in Dumfries town centre.

Irish Street was closed to the public between Buccleuch Street and Friars Vennel at about 15:30 and officers remain at the scene.

Police Scotland said detectives executing a warrant seized a significant quantity of the plants after an “intelligence-led operation”.

Cannabis plants worth about £300,000 were found in the same area about five years ago.
