Donegal: Man dies after getting into difficulty in water

A man has died after being pulled from the sea off County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland.

The man, aged in his 60s, got into difficulty in the water at Marameelan – south of Dunloe in the west of the county – shortly before 20:00 on Monday, gardaí (Irish police) said.

The man was removed from the water and pronounced dead a short time later.

“Arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination and the local coroner has been notified,” a police spokeswoman said.
