The owner of a dog banned from Crufts because its tail was amputated has said she was “gutted” by the decision.
Three-year-old Dalmatian vizsla cross Gwen has happy tail syndrome, which meant she would wag her tail so hard it caused breaks.
Owner and nurse Sophie Scott-Thomas, 32, from Merthyr Tydfil, had Gwen’s tail amputated on welfare grounds following advice from a vet.
But this meant Gwen could not compete in the contest.
Ms Scott-Thomas said: “We were absolutely gutted, obviously there’s so much work that goes into training.”
