The PSNI said the driver of the police vehicle, who they described as a “contracted member of staff”, was not injured in the incident.
Insp Cherith Adair said an investigation was under way to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has dash-cam footage of it, to get in touch.
