The death of a 54-year-old woman at a property in Dundee earlier this month is being treated as murder, police have confirmed.

Lili Stojanova was found unresponsive at the property in Milnbank Road, in the city’s west end, at about 09:55 on 6 December and died at the scene a short time later.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland, her family described her as “a cherished mother, grandmother, daughter and a woman of remarkable talent.”

A 42-year-old man appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court in connection with the incident last week.

The statement from Ms Stojanova’s family added that she was “an artist in every sense.”

It said: “She expressed herself through her art which was a reflection of her gentle heart and unique soul.

“Losing her is a tragedy, and it is something our family is struggling to comprehend.”

Police Scotland said inquiries into the incident were ongoing.
