Crossgar: Man charged after two people attacked in their own home

A man has been charged after two people were attacked in their own home in Crossgar, County Down.

Police said they received a report of two men entering a property in the Killyleagh Street area of the town while the residents were asleep shortly after 19:00 GMT on Monday.

One man, who was said to be wielding a hurl, grabbed one of the residents by the throat during the incident while striking the other with the weapon causing head injuries, the police said.

A 35-year-old man who was arrested by police has since been charged with suspicion of aggravated burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and will appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
