Crews tackling ‘fire in the open’ near Stanton-by-Bridge

Firefighters are tackling a “fire in the open” near a village in Derbyshire.

Five fire engines and a water carrier were deployed to Wood End Lane, near Stanton-by-Bridge, at 06:30 BST on Tuesday.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was affecting an area measuring about 100 metres (328ft) by 400 metres (1,312ft).

It advised residents to keep windows and doors closed, and urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.

A cause has not yet been determined, the fire service added.
