County Donegal: Man dies during scuba diving event

A man in his 40s has died following an incident in Teelin Bay in County Donegal.

Irish broadcaster RTÉ News is reporting that he died after getting into difficulty at a scuba diving event.

Gardaí (Irish police) said the incident occurred around 12:30 local time on Saturday and they subsequently received a request for assistance from the Irish Coastguard.

Two men were recovered from the water.

The man in his 40s was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in the coming days.

The second man, aged in his 60s, is receiving treatment at University Hospital Galway.
