Conor Coady: On-loan Charlton Athletic defender leaves hospital after head injury

On-loan Charlton Athletic defender Conor Coady has left hospital after being knocked out during the 1-1 draw at Watford on Monday.

Former England international Coady, who joined the Addicks from fellow Championship side Wrexham for the rest of the season in January, received lengthy treatment after being hit by a shot during second-half added time at Vicarage Road.

The 33-year-old, making the 500th appearance of his club career, was carried off on a stretcher but, in a statement, Charlton said Coady was given the all-clear after scans, and thanked Watford’s medical staff.

Coady, a Euro 2020 finalist with the Three Lions, posted a photo on Instagram of himself smiling shortly afterwards, telling fans he was “on my way home” and their messages of support “mean a lot”.
