Collapse fear building site in Dumfries earmarked for homes

The site of a building which led to the closure of a Dumfries town centre street due to fears it could collapse is in line for redevelopment.

Plans have been lodged to create 20 flats and a commercial unit on the English Street plot.

The area was closed to traffic for weeks in 2022 while the former Treasure Cave building was partially demolished.

The site – which is currently covered in rubble – is the subject of a planning application to Dumfries and Galloway Council.
