Two climbers were rescued after falling in a mountain corrie in the Cairngorms on Saturday.

Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) said the incident happened after a ledge of snow called a cornice collapsed in Aladdin’s Couloir, a route in Coire an t-Sneachda.

Members of Assynt Mountain Rescue Team who were in the area at the time were first on the scene, and treated the climbers’ injuries before carrying them to a helicopter.

A CMRT spokesperson paid tribute to the “swift response” of volunteers from the Assynt team.

Also at the weekend, Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team helped two walkers who were suffering from exhaustion near the summit of Ben Nevis.

The team’s volunteers walked through deep snow to get to the walkers and escort them to safety.
