Cliff diving: Police warn people not to copy professionals

People in the north coast have been warned by the police not to copy professional cliff divers ahead of a major sporting event.

Officers said there had been several reports of members of the public diving from cliffs near Dunluce Castle in County Antrim on Thursday.

The warning comes as Ballycastle prepares to host a cliff diving event.

“We remind you in the strongest possible terms that anyone attempting to copy the highly trained professionals taking part in the competition is risking their life to do so,” police said in a post, external on social media.

“Do not put either yourself, or those who may have to attempt to rescue you, in danger,” they added.
