Former Wales manager Chris Coleman has been sacked by Belgian top-flight club OH Leuven.

The 55-year-old was appointed at the end of November 2024, just days after leaving his head coach role at Cypriot side AEL Limassol by mutual consent.

Leuven’s main target this season had been to remain in the Belgian Pro League and Coleman achieved that with seven wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats – but the side performed poorly in the play-offs to qualify for European football.

In the Belgian Cup, Leuven reached the quarter-finals before being knocked out by Club Brugge.

A club statement said: “Under the leadership of [Coleman], OH Leuven managed to secure participation in the European play-offs on the last match day of the regular competition.

“In those play-offs, the performances remained below expectations. That is why the club is now opting for change with a view to next season and is ending the collaboration with Coleman. Assistant coach Georgios Korakakis is also leaving the club.

“OH Leuven is already in talks with potential successors and hopes to quickly appoint a new technical staff to start preparations.”

Former Anderlecht boss David Hubert has been linked with taking over at Leuven for the 2025-26 campaign.
