Carlisle decorated with banners which misspell name

Tullie museum has been part of life in Carlisle since 1893 and its latest exhibition, Backing the Blues: 120 Years of Carlisle United, has had almost 2,500 visitors in its first three weeks.

Speaking about the spelling mistake, a spokesperson said: “We were really pleased to be able to promote the Carlisle United exhibition in what is a new and very visible way.

“An unfortunate typo on a few of the banners has marred this slightly, the sort that only seems to show its face once production is complete.”

They added: “Plenty of people laid eyes upon the designs and somehow, we all missed it.”
