Cardiff passenger injured after brick ‘thrown at bus’

The incident, said Mr Dyer, happened on Sunday evening as the number 30 bus was travelling between the St Mellons and Rumney areas of Cardiff.

“The bus wasn’t stationary, it was in full flight,” he said.

“I heard a huge thud, and saw the brick in the middle of the bus with shattered glass everywhere.

“It was on my clothes, my hair – everywhere. Even this morning I found more shards of glass in my wallet, which was in my bag.”

Mr Dyer said the brick hit a passenger who was sat on the opposite side of the bus, injuring her leg.

He added he was sat about a metre back from the window that was shattered, and that “luckily” another passenger who had previously stood there had already got off the bus.

“If an adult had been there when it came through the window it would have hit them in the head,” said Mr Dyer.

“I’m no doctor, but it would have done some horrific damage.”

Mr Dyer said he saw a person running away “out of the corner of my eye”, following the incident.

The bus driver, he added, instructed passengers to sit on the top deck for the remainder of the journey into Cardiff city centre.
