It has been more than 25 years since the controversial £200m Cardiff Bay Barrage officially opened to the public.
The former Tiger Bay and docks area of the city has since been transformed into a major waterfront destination.
Completed in 2001, the project turned tidal mudflats at the mouth of the rivers Taff and Ely into a 200‑hectare freshwater lake, creating what is now known as Cardiff Bay.
BBC Wales’s Pete Shuttleworth took a high-speed boat tour around the barrage, which separates the freshwater lake from the Bristol Channel.
He said: “You couldn’t have done this 30 years ago, all this was just mud.”
