Cambridgeshire man charged after Parliament knife incident

A man has been charged in connection with reports of a person carrying knives outside the Houses of Parliament.

The Metropolitan Police said Lewis Allington, from March in Cambridgeshire, would appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

He was charged with two offences of possession of an offensive weapon, the force said.

Police cars could be seen parked in front of Carriage Gates – one of the most prominent entrances to the Palace of Westminster – after the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
