A man who was arrested after a three-year-old boy was seriously injured in a crocodile enclosure is still on bail.
The boy was visiting Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, with his family on 18 June, when he ended up in the enclosure and was attacked by at least one of the reptiles.
A 30-year-old man from Norfolk was arrested at the time on suspicion of attempted murder and was bailed until 18 September after being assessed as not “fit for interview”.
A police spokesperson confirmed the individual, who was not known to the child, had been rebailed until 17 December.
The BBC understands the arrested man has learning disabilities and was on a trip with carers.
The parents of the boy said their child received injuries to his arms, neck, head, face and suffered broken bones and underwent seven surgeries.
In the latest update on a fundraising page set up by the family, his parents said he had returned home and faced lengthy rehabilitation.
The Care Quality Commission launched an investigation in July into the care that the man – later arrested – had been receiving.
Norfolk County Council – which did not provide any care for the man – has also launched an inquiry under the Care Act 2014.
