British tourist Antony Maxwell died in Turkey balcony fall

A British tourist fell to his death after tumbling over a balcony while drunk at the hotel he was staying at, an inquest concluded.

Crane operator Antony Maxwell was smoking a cigarette at the resort in Alanya near Antalya, Turkey, moments before his fatal fall from the fifth floor on 18 April.

The 21-year-old from Maldon, Essex, was taken to hospital and died from a severe head injury, with a coroner ruling it was an accident.

Speaking during the inquest at Essex coroner’s court, his grandmother, Lynn Mann, said: “The fact of the matter is this is just tragic.”
