A man inside a bin was saved from being crushed after he was tipped into a refuse lorry.
Bristol Waste said the crew became aware of the person and immediately stopped the machinery inside the truck on Monday during collections in the St Paul’s area of the city.
A spokesperson for the firm said it was treating the incident with the “utmost seriousness” and a full investigation had been launched to understand how it happened.
Ricky Gayfer, Bristol Waste’s director of operations, said: “The crews followed their training and procedures and acted quickly. It’s thanks to them that this didn’t end in tragedy.”
