All four train lines on the Brighton Mainline have reopened after weekend engineering works overran, but passengers have been warned that services may be disrupted.
Work had been taking place between Gatwick Airport, Redhill and Reigate, Purley and East Croydon, with only two of four lines expected to be available on Monday.
However, shortly before 06:00 GMT on Monday, Network Rail said all four lines had reopened.
Network Rail added: “Passengers should be aware that services may still be delayed, disrupted or cancelled today as the network returns to normal through the morning.
“We encourage all customers to check their journey before travelling.”
“Essential work” on the Brighton Mainline was expected to go ahead as planned on Saturday and Sunday.
This meant the lines would be shut between Gatwick and both Purley and East Croydon, along with its branches between Reigate and Redhill, and between Redhill and Tonbridge.
Network Rail originally scheduled the work to take place over three weekends in January, with further dates planned in February, March and May.
