A teenager has been arrested over offences under the Terrorism Act outside a Muslim community centre in Greenock.

Police said the boy, 16, was arrested shortly after 09:00 at the Inverclyde Islamic Centre on Laird Street.

The BBC understands that police are investigating whether the alleged offences were connected to right wing extremism.

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Freeburn said there was nothing to suggest anyone else was involved or that there was any further risk to the public.
