Boy, 12, admits to violent disorder in Harehills

A 12-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to an offence in connection with widespread disorder on the streets of Leeds in July.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was 11 years old when violence broke out in the Harehills area of the city on 18 July 2024.

The disorder saw hundreds of people gathered on the streets, with a police car turned over and a bus set alight, after four children were taken into care.

The boy admitted a charge of violent disorder at Leeds Youth Court on Tuesday and was released on bail until 11 February, when he is due to be sentenced.
