Bikers gather at care home to grant resident’s wish

More than 100 scooter and motorbike riders answered a care home’s appeal to help fulfil the wish of a resident living with dementia to be reunited with the mod community he loves.

Meadow Croft care home in Garstang, Lancashire, issued a public appeal after staff learned the resident wanted to relive memories of being part of the mod and biking community.

In a post shared online, the home asked people to help fill its car park with scooters and motorbikes so he could once again be “surrounded by mods, scooters and bikes”.

The home’s lifestyle manager, Jessica Richardson, told BBC Radio Lancashire she was “so stunned and overwhelmed” by the turnout.

She added there were so many riders at Saturday’s event that “you couldn’t move” for bikes.
