Biker dies and four in hospital after A77 crash

A 56-year-old biker has died after a crash with a car in East Ayrshire.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene on the A719 Waterside to A77 Ayr Road, following the crash with a Skoka Octavia at about 15:10 on Saturday.

Police Scotland said the man has not yet been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed.

The man driving the car was not hurt but four female passengers were taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock for treatment.

The road was closed until about 01:00 on Sunday while investigations took place.

Sgt Gordon Stewart said inquiries were continuing to understand the full circumstances.

He appealed for any witnesses to the crash or those with dash cam footage to contact the force via the non-emergency line.
