Hundreds of thousands of musicians and music fans are expected to visit Belfast next year after the city was named the host of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

The week-long event, held in August, is the world’s largest festival of Irish music and dance.

It is hoped the festival will give a boost to hospitality and retail businesses in the city.

Niall McClean, chair of Ards Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ), said the streets of Belfast will be “buzzing”.
