Beeston: Man arrested over suspected XL bully attack

Officers also seized a dog, which is believed to be an XL bully type, from the address.

It has been a criminal offence to own an XL bully dog in England and Wales since 1 February, unless the dog has a certificate of exemption, third party insurance, with the dog muzzled and on a lead in a public place.

The arrested man remains in custody and the dog is being held in secure kennels, police added.

A town centre business, which said the victim was an employee, reported he was “stable” at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, and thanked those who came to his aid.

A police spokesperson said investigations were “ongoing” and asked for witnesses to make contact, adding the town centre was “busy with people” at the time of the attack.
