At least eight people have been killed after a car exploded in New Delhi, say Indian police.
The blast happened at the gates of the metro station at the Red Fort, a former Mughal palace and a busy tourist spot.
Local media said at least 11 people were injured and that Mumbai had been put on high alert after the blast.
The Times of India quoted the city’s police commissioner as saying the explosion happened around 6.52pm when a “slow-moving vehicle stopped a a red light”.
“We heard a big sound, our windows shook,” one resident, who did not give a name, told NDTV.

Sanjay Tyagi, a Delhi police spokesman, said they were still investigating the cause, while the fire service reported that at least six vehicles and three autorickshaws had caught fire.
Images on social media appeared to show the burnt-out remnants of several cars at the scene.
India’s interior minister was heading to the scene and said he would also go to the hospital that’s treating the injured.
