Archive from 2017: Terry Griffiths – 40 years at the Crucible

Former world champion Terry Griffiths has died aged 77. In 2017 Griffiths told of his his top memories from four decades at the Crucible.

Snooker’s World Championships were first held at the Sheffield theatre in 1977. Welshman Griffiths won the title in his first appearance two years later.

He told BBC Sport Wales Sport why it is such a special venue and why he hoped we would see a Welsh world snooker champion again soon.
