Antisocial behaviour leaves locals feeling unsafe

People living in Portsmouth have told the BBC’s Dan Johnson that persistent antisocial behaviour has made them feel unsafe in their homes.

Residents say issues like noise, vandalism, graffiti, fly tipping, drug dealing and abuse leave them feeling they’re living like prisoners.

The government is promising more neighbourhood officers on the beat and is introducing “Respect Orders” to give police and councils more powers to tackle repeat offenders.

Officers admit they are stretched and can’t answer every call, leaving some residents frustrated and so frustrated they no longer report every incident to police.
