Derbyshire have triggered a one-year contract extension to keep wicketkeeper-batter Aneurin Donald at the County Ground until the end of the 2026 season.

The 28-year-old moved to the East Midlands club in 2024, having previously played for Derbyshire on loan in the T20 Blast.

He scored 315 runs for the Falcons in the shortest format of the game last season, which included setting a club record for the fastest 50, off just 19 balls.

Donald also made 13 County Championship appearances last term, scoring three half-centuries – including a best score of 97 against Yorkshire at Headingley.

Derbyshire head of cricket Mickey Arthur praised the big-hitter for producing “some unbelievable innings” and now hopes to see him “build on the foundation”.

“Aneurin showed in his first season with us that he can be a real game-changer, especially in T20 cricket, and we are pleased to have extended his deal by a further year,” Arthur told the club website., external
