Alfie Dorrington: Aberdeen sign Tottenham Hotspur defender on loan

Aberdeen have signed Tottenham Hotspur defender Alfie Dorrington on loan until the end of the season.

Dorrington, 19, made his senior debut in December, coming on as a second-half substitute for Ange Postecoglou’s side in their 5-0 win at Southampton.

The England Under-19 international was left on the bench during Sunday’s FA Cup win against Tamworth and now heads out on loan for the first time.

“Alfie is a really exciting young prospect,” Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin said.

“He has good speed, stature and good ability on the ball and his arrival will further strengthen our options at centre-back.

“We believe this will be an environment in which he can continue to grow and gain some invaluable match experience in a really competitive league.”
