Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaves Besiktas after contract terminated

Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has mutually agreed to terminate his contract at Turkish club Besiktas.

The 32-year-old joined Besiktas on a free transfer following his release by Liverpool in August 2023 and had a year left on his current deal.

Besiktas, who are managed by former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, said they had agreed to pay Oxlade-Chamberlain compensation of 1.75m euros (£1.5m) under the terms of the termination, external.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has 35 England caps but last played for his country in 2019, scored five goals in 50 appearances for Besiktas and won the Turkish Cup in 2024.

The former Southampton player helped Liverpool win the Premier League title in 2020 but was hampered by injuries at Anfield.

He suffered two serious knee injuries in his time there, playing 146 games and scoring 18 goals after joining from Arsenal for £35m in 2017.
