Alan Paver: Cornish Pirates coach faces red card inquiry

Cornish Pirates say they will “fully engage with the RFU’s disciplinary process” after joint-head coach Alan Paver was sent off during Saturday’s loss to Worcester.

Paver was dismissed inside the final 10 minutes after an altercation between himself and an opposition player.

The long-serving Pirates coach and former player first joined the club in 2002 and has been in joint charge with Gavin Cattle for almost a decade.

“We accept responsibility for our part in the incident, the actions taken and acknowledge the seriousness of the matter,” Cornish Pirates said in a statement.

“We will fully engage with the RFU’s disciplinary process, where all context and circumstances will be appropriately reviewed.

“Our priority is to respect the due process and learn from this event.”

If found guilty of an offence by a tribunal, Paver could face a touchline ban.

Pirates are currently sixth in the Champ with five games to play.
