Aimee Maguire: Ireland spinner banned by ICC for illegal bowling action

“As a result, in accordance with clause 6.1 of the regulations, Aimee is immediately suspended from bowling in international cricket,” added the ICC.

“Her suspension will remain in effect until she undergoes a reassessment of her bowling action which confirms that she can bowl with a legal action.”

Maguire didn’t play in Ireland’s two remaining one-day games in India and Cricket Ireland said then that it was giving “full support” to her.

“The staff and players are rallying around Aimee, reassuring her that she will return with a stronger action and will continue to shine on the international stage for many years to come,” said Cricket Ireland’s director of high performance Graeme West on 11 January.

The teenager made her international debut in 2023 and has 20 caps for Ireland, taking 25 wickets across formats.

BBC Sport NI has contacted Cricket Ireland for a response.
