Abergavenny: Burst water main shuts schools and hits 4,000 homes

Four schools were closed and 4,000 homes were left without water by a burst water main in Abergavenny.

Welsh Water said it had been working overnight to repair the main, which had been “damaged by a third party”.

Monmouthshire council said King Henry VIII (both sites), Ysgol Y Fenni, Our Lady and St Michael’s RC schools were closed on Tuesday.

Most homes affected had their water supply restored, but 1,600 were still waiting for repairs.
