Oscar was in fact cast as Elvis the Elf

A nine-year-old boy turned up to his school Christmas concert dressed as Elvis Presley – only to discover he was meant to be Elvis the Elf.

Oscar, from Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, had told his family he needed an “Elvis costume” so his mum sent him in full rock ‘n’ roll gear.

The family only realised the mix-up when he was on stage beside his peers who were dressed as elves, his older sister Jade said.

Despite the mistake, Oscar “wasn’t fazed at all” and happily performed with the rest of the children.

Jade told BBC Wales “every year the school does something different – last year I think he was an alien”.

“So when he said he needed to be Elvis, we just thought it was strange but okay.”

But Oscar had missed a crucial detail – he was cast as Elvis the Elf.

When asked if Oscar had made any complaints about the outfit prior to the concert, his only comment was that the outfit “was not sparkly enough.”

Jade said it was only when Oscar and the other children were on-stage that they realised what had happened.

“All the other children were dressed as elves,” she said.

“We definitely were not made aware that he had the wrong costume until it became apparent.”

Even then, Oscar did not seem concerned.

“He was completely blase about it.

“He really enjoyed it, nothing fazes him,” she said.
