A search carried out on the vehicle revealed the large sum of cash in excess of £300,000.
Detective Inspector Sweeney said: “Yesterday’s stop-and-search and subsequent arrest was a result of collective efforts from across various specialist Police Service departments.”
A 44-year-old man has been charged with possessing criminal property, concealing criminal property and entering into an arrangement to acquire criminal property.
He has also been further charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
The man is due to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning
