World Snooker Championship: Ronnie O’Sullivan beats Ryan Day to move into last eight

Seven-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan moved into the quarter-finals of the World Championship with a comfortable 13-7 win over Ryan Day.

Having led 10-6 overnight, O’Sullivan took three of Monday afternoon’s first four frames to seal victory before the planned mid-session interval.

‘The Rocket’ is aiming for a record-breaking eighth title in the modern era, having drawn level with Stephen Hendry’s tally of seven in 2022.

He will now face either Jack Lisowski or 2015 winner Stuart Bingham in the last eight.

Meanwhile, Kyren Wilson also advanced with a 13-6 win over debutant Joe O’Connor.

Former finalist Wilson also held a 10-6 advantage on the resumption of play and reeled off three frames in a row to set up a meeting with Mark Allen or John Higgins in the next round.

More to follow.
