No further court action will be taken over £200,000 of cannabis plants discovered in an Aberdeenshire town, the Crown office has said.

Hung Nguyen, 40, had been charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after 245 plants were seized by police in Ellon in January last year.

Nguyen was remanded in custody after making no plea at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, but was later released.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) said it reserved the right right to proceed in the future “should further evidence become available”.
