Former Premier League striker Nile Ranger has left Southern League side Kettering Town by mutual consent.
Ranger, who made his Poppies debut in September 2024, left Kettering a day after making his 50th appearance for the club against Alvechurch on Saturday.
The 34-year-old was joint-second top scorer in the seventh-tier Southern League Premier Central this season with six goals in 10 games, and had 18 goals in all competitions.
He endeared himself to the Kettering faithful by scoring the winner in an FA Cup tie against Northampton Town last season, televised by the BBC.
“His commitment to the club, both on and off the pitch, is a testament to him,” club owner George Akhtar told the club website, external.
“You will be missed. Big players step up in big games and that’s what epitomises Nile Ranger.”
The Newcastle academy graduate scored 24 goals in 147 appearances in the top four tiers of English football.
He played 62 times for the Magpies but admitted last year to BBC Sport he had “messed up” his career with off-field controversies.
