Highland Council says it will carry out an assessment on the future use of a multi-purpose building in Inverness city centre that was shutdown last month.
The Spectrum Centre was run by a community-led charitable company, with caretaker support from leisure charity High Life Highland.
The council-owned space had hosted theatre performances, classes and conferences. High Life Highland said it would help groups find alternative locations.
In a report to next week’s full meeting of Highland Council, officials said an options appraisal would be held on the site’s future use.
The officers were responding to a written question from councillor Isabelle MacKenzie.
She asked what actions were being taken to prevent the building from lying empty.
It emerged last month the Spectrum Centre was closing.
