Police blocked off the road after the incident in Haddington

A man has been arrested after a police officer was hit by a vehicle in East Lothian.

Emergency services were called to the incident on High Street in Haddington at about 15:55.

A male police officer was taken the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh for treatment and a 34-year-old man was arrested over road traffic offences.

The road was closed for investigation with local diversions in place. Police said inquiries into the incident were ongoing.
