Darlington couple celebrate 70th wedding anniversary

A Darlington couple have celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary.

Maurice and Nancy Iilett tied the knot in 1955 and have spent the last seven decades working, raising a family and touring the country on motorbikes.

Nancy, 91, was a ward sister and fundraised tirelessly throughout the years, while 96-year-old Maurice sold furniture in Darlington town centre.

The pair, who put their long and happy marriage down to “building on solid foundations”, celebrated the astonishing milestone with afternoon tea with their loved ones.
