A woman has been taken to hospital after a fire in Moray.

Emergency services were called to Alba Place in Elgin shortly before 23:20 on Monday.

A 71-year-old woman was taken to the town’s Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment.

Inquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a fire at Alba Place, Elgin. A 71-year-old woman was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment. Inquiries are ongoing and a joint investigation will take place with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).”

The SFRS said four appliances were sent to the scene of the fire in a ground-floor flat of a two-storey building.
