Rob McElhenney thanks Wycombe Wanderers for saving Wrexham fan

Hollywood actor Rob McElhenney – co-owner of Wrexham Football Club – has thanked Wycombe fans and staff for a “brilliant show of humanity” after they helped “save someone’s life”.

Play was halted in the 77th minute of Saturday’s League One game between Wycombe Wanderers and Wrexham after a medical incident in the away section of the Adam’s Park ground.

After a 35-minute pause, a Wrexham supporter was taken to hospital, where they are now recovering.

McElhenney, joint owner of Wrexham with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, posted: “We cannot thank you enough [Wycombe Wanderers]. What a brilliant show of humanity. You are a beautiful organization.”

He added on X: “As more information comes to light, it’s becoming even more apparent that our supporters, Wycombe staff and Wycombe supporters worked together to save someone’s life.”

Wrexham confirmed the supporter was conscious and in a stable condition when they were taken to hospital.

Wycombe Wanderers boss Mike Dodds told the BBC: “I think the positive is, he’s in a stable condition.

“Sometimes when that happens it puts your life and your stresses in perspective.”

“On the behalf of everyone associated with the football club we wish him and his family really well.”

In a statement, Wrexham added: “We would also like to place on record our thanks to the medics and staff for their swift actions, and to all at Wycombe Wanderers for their response to the incident and for their clear communications throughout.”
