Police are appealing for information following a suspected arson attack at a property in Warrenpoint, County Down.

Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene in Forth Avenue at about 03:20 GMT on Tuesday.

“At this stage, we believe an accelerant was poured at the front door of the property before being set alight,” Det Sgt Lewis said.

A man and a woman, who were inside the property at the time, were taken to hospital for treatment.

There have been no reports of any serious injuries.

Damage was caused to the door and the inside of the property, Det Sgt Lewis added.

Police have asked for anyone who may have any information including dashcam, CCTV or other video footage to get in touch.
